There was a time in my life where everything felt heavy. Not just busy or stressful, but heavy in a way that sat on my chest and followed me into every decision I made.
Bills stacking.
Relationships not working the way I thought they would.
Trying to show up for everyone while quietly wondering if I was falling apart behind the scenes.
And in that season, I thought the dirt meant something was wrong with me.
I thought my mistakes defined me.
I thought my setbacks disqualified me.
I thought the weight I was carrying was proof that I wasn’t built for more.
But what I didn’t understand then is something I live by now.
Seeds do not grow in perfect conditions.
They grow in dirt.
What “The Dirt” Really Looks Like
We like to talk about growth like it’s pretty. Like it’s journaling, affirmations, and aesthetic routines.
But real growth looks like survival.
It looks like:
- Making decisions from pressure instead of peace
- Staying in situations longer than you should because you’re trying to make it work
- Carrying responsibilities that don’t slow down just because you’re overwhelmed
- Smiling in public while processing everything in private
That is the dirt.
And the truth is, most of us have been in it longer than we want to admit.
The Difference Between Being Buried and Being Planted
When you’re in the middle of it, everything feels like it’s falling apart.
But there is a difference between being buried and being planted.
Being buried feels like the end.
Being planted is the beginning of something you cannot see yet.
The pressure you feel is not always punishment.
Sometimes it is positioning.
The silence is not always emptiness.
Sometimes it is preparation.
And the weight you are carrying?
It might be building something in you that comfort never could.
The Moment Everything Shifted
For me, the shift did not come with a big breakthrough.
It came as a quiet thought.
“This can’t be all there is for me.”
I did not have a plan.
I did not have proof.
I did not even have clarity.
But I had a feeling.
And sometimes, that is all you need to start.
Stop Apologizing for Your Dirt
Here is what I want you to understand.
Your dirt is not your disqualification.
It is your foundation.
Everything you have been through has added something to you:
- Strength you did not know you had
- Awareness you could not have learned any other way
- Perspective that will guide your next decisions
You are not behind.
You are being built.
Your Becoming Starts Here
If you are in a season where things feel heavy, unclear, or uncomfortable, do not rush to escape it.
Ask yourself this instead:
👉 What is this season trying to grow in me?
Because one day, you are going to look back and realize something powerful.
You were never stuck.
You were being planted. If this resonated with you, this is just the beginning.
My book Potential is a deeper guide through healing, growth, and becoming the version of yourself you know is possible.
